Welcome to The Hitting House — a year-round indoor baseball and softball training facility in Wintersville, Ohio, where passion meets purpose and athletes come to learn, compete, and grow.

My name is Ty Householder, owner of The Hitting House and a proud product of the Ohio Valley. Having grown up playing baseball in this community, I know firsthand the impact that access to quality facilities, instruction, and opportunities can have on a young athlete.

For me, The Hitting House is more than turf, cages, and nets. I spent countless hours inside these very cages working to improve my game and pursue the goal of playing baseball at the next level. That work helped me break multiple school records, earn honors including OVAC Player of the Year, District Player of the Year, and All-Ohio Co-Player of the Year, and ultimately achieve my dream of playing Division I baseball.

Now, it's my opportunity to pay that experience forward.

We want to create a place where players and coaches at every level can develop their game, embrace hard work, and be part of a culture built around excellence, accountability, consistency, and growth.

The Hitting House provides year-round opportunities through indoor batting cages, private baseball and softball instruction, pitching machines, camps and clinics, team training, and memberships designed to give athletes the ability to consistently work on their game.

What is The Hitting House?

Why was The Hitting House created?
The Hitting House was created to give local baseball and softball players a high-quality, convenient place to train throughout the year. Our goal is to provide athletes throughout the Ohio Valley with the tools, instruction, and environment they need to put in the work and continue developing their game.

When did The Hitting House open?
The Hitting House opened in August 2025 in Wintersville, Ohio. Since opening, the facility has continued to expand its baseball and softball training opportunities through memberships, private lessons, camps, clinics, team practices, and additional training equipment.

Who does The Hitting House serve?
The Hitting House serves baseball and softball players of different ages and skill levels, from young athletes learning the game to travel, middle-school, and high-school players looking for more advanced development. We also work with local and regional baseball and softball teams looking for indoor practice opportunities.

What does The Hitting House facility offer?
The Hitting House is a climate-controlled indoor training facility featuring three hitting cages and a dedicated pitching lane. Athletes have access to training equipment including baseball and softball pitching machines, while the facility also supports private instruction, individual workouts, camps, clinics, and team practices.

Does The Hitting House offer both baseball and softball training?
Yes. The Hitting House is designed for both baseball and softball athletes. Players can participate in private lessons, cage training, pitching-machine work, camps, clinics, and other development opportunities throughout the year.

What types of private instruction are available?
Private instruction is available in multiple areas of baseball and softball development, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching. Our instructors bring different backgrounds and specialties, allowing families to find an instructor who fits their athlete's individual development needs.

Do you have to be a member to train at The Hitting House?
Membership is required for individual batting-cage access, but athletes do not have to be members to take private lessons. Memberships provide athletes and families with ongoing facility access along with additional benefits and discounts.

What makes The Hitting House different?
The Hitting House combines year-round facility access with private instruction, technology and training equipment, camps, clinics, and a growing group of baseball and softball instructors. Rather than focusing only on cage rentals, our goal is to create an environment where athletes have multiple ways to consistently train and develop.

Our philosophy is simple: Put the work in. Improvement comes from consistent, purposeful repetitions combined with quality instruction and a willingness to keep learning. The Hitting House provides athletes with the environment and resources to do that work throughout the year.

This includes communities such as Wintersville, Steubenville, Toronto, Richmond, Mingo Junction, Cadiz, Weirton, Follansbee, Wellsburg, and surrounding areas in Eastern Ohio and the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.

How has The Hitting House grown since opening?
Since opening in 2025, The Hitting House has grown into a year-round training destination for local baseball and softball families. The facility has hosted hundreds of private lessons, camps and clinics, travel-team practices, and a growing membership community while continuing to expand its softball and baseball training offerings.
